For Those of You Pursuing Civil Rights or Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) Claims against the BOP or Individual Officers or Employees:

If you feel you or a loved one has been wronged by the Federal Bureau of Prisons or its officers or employees, you may have a claim. However, federal civil rights claims are extremely difficult to make, let alone win in court. Even negligence claims can be challenging, especially if you are not represented by an attorney. Alleging a claim is not the only hurdle. For civil rights claims by an inmate and for all FTCA claims, you must exhaust available administrative remedies before you can bring an action in federal court. There may be other requirements that must be met depending on the nature of the claim.

You or your loved one should seek an attorney in the jurisdiction where you live or where the incident occurred to represent you. If the attorneys you are seeking to represent you do not have a lot of experience with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, please suggest they contact me for a consultation and I can help them determine if you have a claim for which they are capable of representing you.

If you already have counsel and think your representation may be enhanced by my experience and knowledge, then consult your counsel and have them contact me through this website and complete the contact us form or email me at [email protected].  I would be happy to discuss the possibility of full or limited representation or consultation as may be appropriate under the circumstances.

For Offenders and Family or Friends of Offenders Facing a Federal Prison Sentence:

A long federal prison sentence is a daunting prospect for not only the offender facing the sentence, but also for the family and friends of the offender.  Desperation, frustration, fear of the unknown, and a wealth of other feelings can compel you to seek any assistance you can find.  There are a number of businesses out there who offer services claiming to be able to help with securing the lowest security facility for incarceration or assist in laying the foundation for the offender to gain entry into a Residential Drug Program, a federal prison program for which an offender can earn up to a year off their sentence.  Pursuing these services may offer you peace of mind or make you feel as though you have done everything you can to support yourself or your loved one through this challenging time. In that sense, the benefits of these services may outweigh the out-of-pocket costs you experience.

I am committed to only providing my services in those situations where they have the potential to make a meaningful difference.  For that reason, I have focused my firm on providing consulting services to and working directly with the offender's legal counsel.  I am available for consultation throughout the criminal process or for limited consultation to review plea agreements and presentence investigative reports, among others.

If you think my services may help you or your loved one, please discuss the issue with the offender's counsel.  If the offender's counsel thinks I could be of assistance, have them contact me through this website or by emailing me at [email protected].  I would be happy to discuss the possibility of full or limited representation or consultation as may be appropriate under the circumstances.

For BOP Employees Pursuing Discrimination or Other Employment Law Claims:

Making the decision to pursue an employment discrimination or other work-related claim against the BOP can be challenging.  In my experience representing the agency in employment law matters, I found staff didn't always fully understand BOP policies or processes. In my nearly 25 years with the BOP, I worked in Federal Prison Industries in Central Office, regional offices, and at institutions throughout the country during which I honed my knowledge of the agency and its processes.  I have defended the BOP in employment law matters as well as numerous other matters that gave me insights into the operations of various departments and offices within the institutions, regions, Central Office, and supporting facilities.

I am committed to only providing my services in those situations where they have the potential to make a meaningful difference.  For that reason, I have focused my firm on providing consulting services and working directly with your representative. If you are pursuing a claim on your own, I may be able to assist you.

For those of you in the informal resolution or administrative claim process, I may be available to represent you or provide you limited representation for a specific purpose, like drafting your administrative claim or drafting discovery requests.  You may just want to consult with me about BOP policy or a specific BOP process. In that case, a limited consultation may be appropriate.

If you think my services may help you, please discuss the issue with your attorney, Union representative, or other representatives.  If your representative thinks I could be of assistance, have them contact me through this website or by emailing me at [email protected].  I would be happy to discuss the possibility of full or limited representation or consultation as may be appropriate under the circumstances.

For Those Accused of Crimes Inside (or Trying to Introduce Contraband Into) a Federal Prison:

Whether you or a loved one was an employee or inmate at the time of the offense, I may be able to support your counsel in defending you. My knowledge and understanding of the Agency and its processes may be able to assist your defense attorney in strategizing for your defense, understanding and identifying any deficiencies in the materials which are turned over in discovery, tailor requests for records or evidence to those which may identify evidence relevant to the incident, among others.

I am committed to only providing my services in those situations where they have the potential to make a meaningful difference.  For that reason, I have focused my firm on providing consulting services to and working directly with the offender's legal counsel.  I am available for consultation throughout the criminal process or for limited consultation to review discovery, plea agreements, and/or presentence investigative reports, among others.
